The techniques we use include EMDR (rapid eye movement desensitisation), SE (somatic experiencing) and advanced NLP (neuro-linguistic programming).
After a precise and holistic assessment of our clients, we match their specific issues with the appropriate therapeutic tools.
Trauma is an area of specialty for Reflections. Our experience is that many people who suffer from addiction issues, often relapse because of hidden trauma.

Trauma treatment
Trauma is a normal reaction of the mind and body to an overwhelming event such as an accident, rape or robbery. Sometimes the mind cannot make sense of what happened and shock and denial are typical.
Long-term effects of a traumatic event include unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships, headaches or nausea. Some people have difficulty moving on with their lives.

Understanding trauma better
One person may experience an event as traumatic while another person would not suffer trauma as a result of the same event. We all react differently After a traumatic experience, a person often relives the trauma mentally and physically caused by “triggers”. Reliving a trauma is uncomfortable, painful and can cause anxiety and even panic attacks. A person can be completely unaware of what these triggers are. Therefore intense feelings and reactions may surface in inappropriate and unexpected situations, even when somebody is in a safe and loving environment.
People with a trauma often suffer from upsetting memories, haunting flashbacks, recurrent nightmares and insomnia. Because all of this is painful, people often turn to alcohol, drugs or other psychoactive substances.
